Cordelia has turned 10 months old and is having an eruption of teeth! On the 18th, she got her left front tooth (central incisor). A few days later she got right side (lateral incisor). I thought it was a little strange that it came in before the right side central incisor, though that one showed up in the next week or so, over my spring break I think.
On her 10 month Bday, it was also Jason and my 5 year anniversary! Unfortunately, they were in a car accident and got rear ended. Fortunately, they were ok. But our new car wasn't. The driver did not have insurance and had an expired license, so it turned our our insurance covered everything. They also wanted to replace our car seat, as once it has been in an accident it's warranty is no longer good. We went back and forth trying to decide if we wanted to replace her infant seat with an identical one or upgrade to a convertble car seat. We decided to get her a bigger one. It seems silly to get her an infant one when she will outgrow it in a matter of months. But I will miss the convenience of being able to strap her in and tote her around. And being able to move her in and out of the car if she has dozed off, given how easily she wakes up.
My parents finally visited! My sisters came too, so it was a whole family gathering. I was glad we could show them our new place and have enough room for everyone to sleep, if not in the most comfort (couch, sleeping bags; floor mat; air mattress all in use). Cordelia had a blast playing with everyone. It was during this weekend that she went book crazy! Of course, having all the Turtledoves around to read to her helped. She loved reading a Tomie DePaola book my mom found of nursery rhymes. She loved looking at the sheep and also the cat and the dog illustrations in the "Baa Baa Black Sheep." One time she picked up the book and said, "baa, baa". So now I call it the "Baa Baa Book." She also started loving the Matthew Van Fleet book CATS. In Peek-a-Who? she loves the Zoo animals page, and also kisses her reflection when she gets to the mirror page at the end.
I played a Dan Zanes cd from Heidi and she started boogying to Rock Island Line. It made us all crack up laughing. She has also boogied to Happy, the song that is really popular right now. I put a video clip of her dancing to it and then pointing to my mug of tea and saying "Cat." At least, it really sounds like cat. It also seemed like she was saying dog all weekend. When she sees a dog, she starts panting. How does she know to do that? Sometimes she repeats noises or words. Like, we vacuumed the front porch and she started buzzing! We have also played a game where you touch fingers and go "BZZZ" like you have an electric shock! And she can BZZZ!
She also gives high fives now. She has balanced for a few seconds without holding onto anything, but she can't yet stand on her own. She is very good at waving. She sleeps in her crib, sometimes all night!
This morning, she cried when I had to leave for work.
