Introducing The Baby Bear Blog

Hello, everyone.

It has been a long time since I have done any proper, public internet journaling.  Not since they heydays of livejoural, which, let's be honest, barely anyone uses anymore.  I remembering a high school friend joking about making LJ updates 10 years later: "Gave birth yesterday..... it was like doing the splits over a stick of dynamite."

Well, here I am 40 week pregnant and Baby Bear is due today!

With family and friends scattered near and far, I am deciding to return to journaling as a way to share updates on our journey into parenthood.  I have not decided if this will be a completely public or a privately shared blog yet, so until I figure out how to make those settings, I will not use real names.

However, I do want a place to record my own memories and to be able to keep in touch with news about Baby Bear's growth and development.  Also, I was partially inspired by reading Good Morning Merry Sunshine by Bob Greene.  This book, from 1985, is a reporter's daily journal entries about his daughter's first year of life.  My mom passed it on to me as something she had enjoyed as a new parent.  While I found some attitudes of the book a bit dated, it was an interesting historical read, and of course, child development continues as it always had.  While I may not be diligent enough to journal every day, I still would like to add my own record of sorts.

So here, we are on Baby Bear's due date.  Nothing is happening yet, so I predict she will be arriving later, rather than on time.  But she is in charge of that, not me.  Either way, we are all eagerly waiting for you to make an appearance!

It is hard to believe that 20 weeks ago she looked like this--- cute little space alien jelly bean:

and is now a fully formed baby that still somehow is fitting inside her mama's tummy.
